BPC Announces Key Appointment to Support Ongoing Growth

BPC Building Products, a leading manufacturer of constructional fixing components and builders’ metalwork, has expanded its team following the appointment of Neil Garner as Head of Sales.

Neil, who brings with him more than 25 years’ experience within the manufacturing sector, has worked at managerial level for a number of years, including most recently as Sales Manager for one of the UK’s largest abrasive manufacturers.

As head of the sales department, Neil will use his knowledge and expertise to develop opportunities for both BPC and its distribution partners. He will also be responsible for bringing together a new internal and external sales team and developing strong strategies for all sectors that the business operates in, including construction and DIY.

BPC Sponsors 160 Miles Coast to Coast Walk For Lois

A team from BPC Building Products is taking part in ‘The Lois Lanes’, a coast-to-coast walk to raise in excess of £15,000 for Lois Huntingdon and the Forget-Me-Not Children’s Hospice.

Lois is a happy, lively and courageous young lady, who has an undiagnosed neuromuscular condition and severe learning disabilities that she has battled since birth.

The aim is to raise £7,000 for Lois, which will buy her a new wheelchair transporter bike, providing her with hours of great pleasure as she has outgrown her current bike.

The remaining money raised will go directly to Forget-Me-Not, a pioneering children’s hospice serving families across West Yorkshire & East Lancashire. Forget-Me-Not has been a huge support for Lois and her family over the years.

On the weekend of April 6-8, 2018, over 2-days and 2-nights, teams of volunteers will join friends and relations of the Huntingdon family, to take part in the 160 mile walk from The Deep in Hull to the Pier Head in Liverpool.

BPC Building Products celebrates 40th anniversary

 

BPC Building Products has celebrated its 40th anniversary.

To mark the occasion, a day of celebration took place on Tuesday 19th September, exactly 40 years’ from when the family owned and operated company was first incorporated. The event included a visit from the mayor of Wakefield, Mr Kevin Barker.

From its beginnings in 1977, BPC Building Products has grown into a national business supplying a range of constructional and DIY markets. The company now manufactures and supplies fixings, gardening, decking and fencing ranges to construction sites and DIY’ers across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Wakefield remains the headquarters for BPC Building Products, with its advanced manufacturing and warehousing operations.

The company has achieved significant growth over the last five years with a 170 per cent increase in turnover. Ongoing improvements in service has been one of the reasons for rapid growth recently, including next day delivery and with no minimum order quantity for its merchants and distributors.

“We would like to thank all our customers for supporting us over the last 40 years,” said Gareth Simister, Managing Director at BPC Building Products. “Our reputation and track record have been built largely on customer recommendations, and we thank them for their continued trust and confidence.”

While BPC initially focused on builders’ metalwork products such as joist hangers and restraint straps, demand from customers resulted in range extensions over the years. These include plasterers’ metalwork as well as fencing, decking and gardening ranges.

Recent major investments by BPC Building Products include £500,000 to upgrade and expand its Wakefield warehouse and manufacturing facility, creating up to 10 jobs in the process. The project was part funded by a Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) grant of £80,000.

The investment project will enable the company to further increase its market share in both the UK and European construction markets.

BPC Building Products creates jobs with £500k investment

BPC has announced a £500k investment project to upgrade and expand its Wakefield warehouse and manufacturing facility, creating up to 10 jobs in the process.

The project is part funded by a Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) grant of £80,000, and is due to be completed by 1st February 2017.

BPC Building Products will start work in December 2016 on Flanshaw Way, Wakefield, with the installation of a new high speed production line. This will be followed by upgrading two of the company’s five existing lines in early 2017, increasing output to 130 components per minute on each line, complete with automated barcode application equipment.

It is expected that the investment will create up to 10 jobs within the production and warehousing areas of the company.

The support from Wakefield Growth Manager, Pat Coffey, and the funding the LEP has provided to BPC Building Products will mean the creation of more new jobs in the region, enabling them to further develop and grow their business,” said LEP chair, Roger Marsh OBE. “It is important that Leeds City Region manufacturing grows and our grants can help firms make their investment go further by up to 20 per cent.

The Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and Wakefield Council Leader, Cllr Peter Box, said: “I’m delighted BPC Building Products are investing in Wakefield and creating new jobs. I encourage other Wakefield SMEs who have growth plans to get in touch with the LEP to find out if there is support they could be tapping into.

The investment follows on from significant growth at BPC Building Products, with 170 per cent increase in turnover over the last 5 years. Once complete, the investment project will enable the company to further increase its market share in both the UK and European construction markets.
